Go Spartans 2012!!

Today is a great day, one that we celebrate every year in our family! It's the beginning of college football season and the first game for the Michigan State University Spartans!! We are looking forward to going over to Bob's parents tonight to watch the game. One year ago today (opening game day, although it was September 2) after we had watched the Spartans win, I came home and took a pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant! (see here) That little baby turned out to be our Bobby IV and hence the reason his nursery was decorated in a Michigan State theme! (see here)

Carpenter Family Faith Book

A few days ago I received this email from my husband. I wanted to post this on my blog just in case any of you who read this blog would like to do this for your own family. What a great idea. I can't wait to get started on it (with Michelle's help, of course, since I am not the least bit creative)
Joshua 4:
20 And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan. 21 He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22 tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’ 23 For the Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The Lord your God did to the Jordan what he had done to the Red Sea[b] when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. 24 He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God. ”

Deut. 6:
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

I have a project for you:  I want a Family Faith Book to keep on our coffee table and to remind our kids daily of God's great kindness and faithfulness to us and our constant reliance on Him.  I would like you to create us a beautiful (BIG) book that will become a family heirloom.  You can search online and use scrap booking tools, etc. and we can put a little bit of money into making it worthy of the importance of what it is.  Check out my Workflowy for a start to the faith entries and I want these (and perhaps others) verses above featured prominently on it, maybe on the cover.  I'll leave the rest of it up to you!
Thanks Babe!

La la la la Elmo Love!

Bellie is all about Elmo right now. She is obsessed. She now thinks that the sole purpose of a cell phone is to play Elmo videos. She gets SO excited when she sees him on the screen. Here's how she sings his song. It's so precious and I just want to remember this!

Welcome Emery!

On Tuesday, August 21, my sister-in-law Rachel and her husband Ivan welcomed a brand-new baby girl, whom they named Emery Elizabeth. Emery was born at 3:36 PM and her gender was a surprise to all of us. Though I knew the gender of both of my babies while being pregnant, I've got to say that this one was pretty fun. The grandmas, aunts and uncle and I waited anxiously in the hall for Ivan to come out and tell us that she was a girl. Unfortunately, the pediatrician came out prior to Ivan and broke the news to us first. Not cool! But, here's the moment that Ivan came out.

Baby Emery had some minor breathing issues after she was born, so it took a few hours for her to join her mama in the hospital room.

Here's the moment when she finally got to come see her mama!

Here are a few pictures of sweet baby Emery and all the events that happened on her birthday.

Welcome Joshua!

Friday night, August 17, my sister-in-law gave birth to a little boy named Joshua John. It was really special to be there to witness the birth of my nephew. As I was headed to Lansing on Friday evening I got a text that Amanda was in labor. Thankfully I had brought some frozen milk for the baby so that my in-laws could watch the kids while I went to the hospital. When I got to the hospital around 7 PM, Amanda was dilated to seven. I thought she had an epidural because she was very calm and quiet and didn't seem like she was in any pain. But it that point she didn't have an epidural. A few minutes later they gave her the epidural and she started to have some issues with her heart beat. She went into what's called SVT where her heart started beating very rapidly. On top of that she was having issues with asthma. The doctors decided to bring her to the cardiac intensive care unit portion of the hospital to deliver the baby there. Around 10 PM things had calmed down she was back in stable condition, so they decided to break her water. 10 minutes later she was complete and ready to get that baby out. Eight minutes after that baby Joshua was born. It was a very special event and one that I won't forget. I'm so glad my parents and brother Jordan could be there, too..

So many tries

And we still didn't get the "perfect" shot. Oh, but I think they're perfect for these four cousins!!
